Our Verdict
The Instinct XX 20-24L Vest Pack is one of the more convincing blends of running vest and fastpacking pack that I've come across. Developed in the French Alps, it feels purpose-built for long mountain days. The vest-style harness keeps the load remarkably stable for a pack of this size, while the extensive front storage allows quick access to food, water and essentials without breaking stride.
What stands out most is the organisation. I cannot stress how many pockets there are; I im still finding new ones. The large rear access panel, roll-top storage and numerous stretch and zipped pockets make it easy to carry a surprising amount of kit without the pack feeling cluttered. The included 600ml soft flasks integrate neatly into the design, and the multiple pole-carry options add further flexibility.
At 634g, it is not chasing the lightest possible weight, but the robust construction and carrying comfort feel like worthwhile trade-offs. For fastpacking, multi-day trail events and self-supported mountain adventures, this is a highly capable and thoughtfully designed pack.
