Supportive boot comfort for longer hikes
Mammut says:
Designed for extra comfort on long hikes and multi-day tours. These lightweight boots feature a Flextron® PRO propulsion plate for stability, support and reduced fatigue on challenging terrain. High rebound EVA foam delivers excellent cushioning throughout the day. A durable upper and TPU reinforced rand protect against rocks and trail debris. The Vibram XS TREK outsole with Traction Lug™ has next-level grip for more confident footing – even in rain. And your feet will stay warm and dry, thanks to a waterproof, windproof GORE-TEX membrane. With an improved fit for more volume, the Ducan III High GTX boots are a staple for hitting the trails.
Our Verdict
At 524g per shoe, the Mammut Ducan III High GTX gives more ankle coverage and protection while still feeling lighter than a traditional walking boot. The improved fit offers more volume than previous Duncan models, making it more forgiving on longer days and multi-day routes.
Underfoot, the high-rebound EVA and Flextron plate provide a stable, cushioned feel on rough paths, while the Vibram XS Trek outsole adds confidence on wet rock, mud and mixed trail. The GORE-TEX lining, elastic tongue construction and protective rand make sense for UK conditions, especially when paths are wet or loose.
