Our Verdict
The Covex Hoody delivers reliable warmth and stretch comfort in a simple, no-nonsense design. At 405g (Medium), this mid-weight layer uses Rab’s Thermic Soft Stretch fleece, which feels smooth on the outside and brushed on the inside, offering steady warmth and excellent mobility. It has a relaxed fit that feels more like a technical sweatshirt than a mountain layer, making it as comfortable in the pub as it is on a windy ridge.
The stretch in the fabric allows unrestricted movement during scrambles or climbs, and the under-helmet hood fits neatly. The fleece breathes well, staying comfortable during steady exertion. Stitching and seam work are tidy, and the rolled cuffs and hem sit flat under outer layers.
