Our Verdict
The Capilene Cool Trail Shirt sits closer to a comfortable everyday T-shirt than many synthetic baselayers, and I think that is its biggest strength. The updated polyester-and-TENCEL blend feels softer and drapes more naturally than older versions, while still drying quickly enough for regular hiking use. At 124g (Med), it remains light without feeling overly delicate.
The smooth seams and stretch fabric help it sit comfortably under pack straps, and the odour control works well over repeated wear. For general hillwalking, travel and everyday wear, it's a standout piece.
