Our Verdict
The Osprey Camera Chest Rig is a well-executed solution for anyone needing rapid access to camera gear without compromising pack fit or comfort. I’ve been using it with my Sony a6000 and mid-sized lens, and it handles the weight well—no bounce or sway when cinched properly. The harness distributes weight evenly across the shoulders and sternum, staying comfortable even under a full load. The spacer mesh panel does a decent job of managing heat on the move, and it sits well over a rucksack—no awkward shifting or pressure points, though it is a little awkward if your pack has a sternum strap.
What sets it apart is the integration with Osprey packs. You can clip it directly into the shoulder adjusters and load lifters, so the weight rides off the pack’s suspension rather than pulling forward on your chest. The internal volume is enough for a padded body and lens setup, with side stretch pockets for memory cards, clothes, or even a spare battery. The included rain cover is a thoughtful touch and fits snugly without fumbling.
