Real Turmat Blueberry and Vanilla Muesli Review - Trek Scotland

Posted by Trek Scotland on Apr 19, 2022

This breakfast option from Real Turmat has a high calorie count of 706kcal, in a low carry weight of 204 grams. The Blueberry and Vanilla Muesli is focused mostly towards carbs (121 grams), with also high protein (32grams) and fibre (10.4) intake per pouch. It is vegetarian friendly and has a quick re-hydration time of 3 mins.

Our Verdict
Real Turmat have produced some great tasting meals with some unique flavours to add variety to expedition meal times. The Blueberry and Vanilla Muesli offers a hearty breakfast packed full of energy to kick start the day. Unfortunately, for our taste, the Muesli was far too sweet and we also found the vanilla overpowered the rest of the flavours. The fast hydration time makes for a quick start to the day and the consistency of the muesli wasn’t too loose and held well to our spoon. It’s always best to have a meal which isn’t going to drip all over your kit before packing away! We used this meal on the morning of a cold winter camp at Ben Alder with no option to eat outside as a small blizzard has started to form. This is defiantly a meal for those with a sweet tooth, although for our tastes we preferred other options from Real Turmat such as the Chocolate Muesli.
