La Sportiva's Mission

Our mission is to bring you the best technical products to explore the outdoors. For 93 years we have been producing innovative products and we are looking forward to the next 90 years. Produced and designed in a small mountain town at the foot of the Dolomites, La Sportiva supports 140 families in a unique and enviable environment. Everyday the mountains surround the people who handcraft our products. Being mountain based and family run allows us to draw on eight decades of experience handed down through the generations. With this heritage we can focus on the future and meld new technologies, ideas and innovation with our rich knowledge of manufacturing to give you the most amazing products on the market. Products that let you go where you dream to go, do what you dream to do and live how you want to live.

History

La Sportiva was born in 1928 when Narciso Delladio hand-crafted wooden leather boots for many lumber-jacks and farmers of the Fassa and Fiemme valleys (Dolomites, Italy). After the war, the demand for boots increased obliging Narciso to hire new workers: the good name of "Calzoleria Sportiva" crossed the boarders of the valleys. Starting from here the La Sportiva’s history continued to grow. Now the firm produces in Fiemme Valley boots and shoes for all kind of outdoor activities from climbing and mountain, categories in which La Sportiva has the market leadership, to mountain running, trekking and the skimountaineerging market. Recently the company entered in the skimountaineering segment and in the apparel market with a complete selection of technical clothes for running, skimountaineering and climbing. La Sportiva who produces mainly in his headquarter at Ziano di Fiemme, is distributed in more then 70 countries worldwide.

Sustainable Development Goals

For over 90 years, La Sportiva has been operating in the captivating surroundings of the Fiemme Valley, a valley that lies at the foot of the Dolomites and is a World Heritage Site. Such a setting inspires a strongly held social and environmental responsibility within the company. As a consequence, we have adopted low impact working methods and practices, ecological best practices and certifications. These have been at the forefront of our relationship with the environment as we search to find the most eco-compatible approach.

Alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) allows La Sportiva to manage and report on the impact created by its local activities and the efforts undertaken to minimise them in a shared language at a global level. The 2030 Agenda represents a guiding light for sustainability in La Sportiva. The internal objectives are in fact aligned with the SDGs and La Sportiva as it pursues them, commits to monitor and limit the environmental impact of its production activity, to reduce CO2 emissions and raw material waste. This is in combination with ensuring the well-being of its employees, as well as the development and growth of the local community from a socioeconomic viewpoint.

La Sportiva Ecolution

“Ecolution means development in harmony with the environment and eco-compatible innovation. Every function is involved - from the design of new products, through research into eco-friendly, biodegradable, eco-compatible or recycled raw materials and all phases of the production and sales processes - with the aim of progressively reducing CO2 emissions, processing waste and packaging.”  - Lorenzo Delladio, CEO & President
