Our Verdict
The Big Agnes Tiger Wall 3 Platinum Tent follows the same proven design, now updated with HyperBead fabric. This brings measurable gains, with reduced weight, improved waterproofing and increased strength. In practice, the key benefit is reduced stretch when wet, so the fly holds tension better in damp conditions and requires less adjustment overnight.
At 975g for the fly, inner, and poles, the low weight stands out for a three-person shelter. Pack size remains compact, and the semi-freestanding design keeps things simple. Pitching is easy and intuitive, with a straightforward pole structure, though it still needs staking at the foot end to achieve its full shape.
Internal space remains efficient rather than generous. Three standard mats will fit, though space is tight; it works particularly well for two people who want extra room for gear, or space for two wide pads. Headroom is good for the weight, and the dual doors and vestibules help with access and storage.
Ventilation is strong thanks to the mesh-heavy inner, allowing good airflow in milder conditions. In more exposed or colder camps, that openness is more noticeable. Weather protection is solid for settled three-season use, but this is not a shelter designed for harsher or fully exposed pitches.
This tent suits campsite-to-campsite routes and established trails where pitches are more predictable. It is less suited to more exposed wild camps where durability and protection become more important.
