Our Verdict
At 79g, the Fjällräven Bergtagen Jacquard Beanie is much more substantial than a thin technical hat, and that is part of the appeal for me. The 100% traceable lambswool provides plenty of warmth, continues to insulate when damp and feels better suited to colder, steadier days than high-output activity.
It will not dry as quickly as a synthetic fleece beanie, but if warmth and a more substantial feel matter more than shaving every gram, I think that trade-off makes sense. The chunkier construction makes it feel more at home around town than heading up into the hills, although it will still do the job perfectly well for general winter walking.
