Our Verdict
Sierra Design's Backcountry Bed Duo 20 Down Sleeping Bag uses some innovative and versatile features with an oversized design to give two sleepers maximum comfort. The spacious dimensions feel even bigger due to the innovative zipless front which has a wide opening with a blanket style front. This is the main feature as it allows you to wrap it tightly around your shoulders or fold it right back to dump excess heat in milder conditions. There is a small chord across the front of it that helps keep it in place but it can be removed depending on what you need. At just over 2kg this is a decent weight for a double sleeping bag with a temperature limit of -6.6°C.
The bag also features the self sealing foot vent that has been hugely popular on some of the other sleeping bags from Sierra Designs which again makes it great for keeping comfortable on warmer nights. There is a sleeping pad sleeve on the rear of the bag to help keep your mat in place and increase comfort and ease of use. The range of features combined with the oversized design mean that this isn't the lightest of bags and is more suited to car or base camp use but it is still packable enough for overnight hikes for anyone after the space and added luxury it provides.
