Our Verdict
At 138g (Medium), the Airlite 5" Shorts feel focused on keeping things simple and comfortable. The two-layer construction works well, with the inner boxer helping reduce chafing while the perforated outer fabric allows plenty of airflow during warmer conditions.
I particularly like the rear zipped pocket. It is large enough for essentials and the integrated key loop adds a little extra security without complicating the design. The stretchy outer fabric also allows a natural range of movement whether running or moving quickly on the trail.
Storage is intentionally minimal, and a larger phone may bounce slightly when carried in the rear pocket. For racing, training runs and fast summer hiking, they work well.
