The 2Lite is built to hold up against harsh backpacking conditions without sacrificing the weight and comfort of a standard backpacking tent. The ergonomic footprint shape increases space at the torso and elbows, making the tent feel much roomier than its 28 square feet.
Short 12" pole segments come standard and allow the 2Lite to fit almost anywhere, making it ideal for bikepacking or any discipline in which packed size is an important consideration.
Seam Sealing Note: The seams on your 2Lite's flysheet are highly water-resistant and will handle light rain just fine without being seam sealed. However, the two seams directly beneath the tent poles and the long seam down the center of the flysheet should be seam sealed for maximum waterproofness in extended, heavy rains.
Our Verdict
A light, roomy tent that easily accommodates two but is a palace for one, the 2lite is a solid shelter built from high-quality materials that hold up well even in exposed spots. At first, it looks quite traditional in its design, but remove the fly, and you will see it’s anything but traditional. Built from strong DAC aluminium pole segments, the main pole almost bows out, creating height, internal space near the shoulders, and tension. This helps the tent stay steady in harsher conditions than other tents in this weight category.
The tent is incredibly easy to pitch; only two poles are needed, the main pole and the pole at the foot end of the tent and the tent can be pitched with just four pegs for the body of the tent and two additional pegs at the corner of each vestibule door, three additional guyout points can also be attached, one at the foot and one either side of the vestibule doors in bad weather, if needed.
The livability of the tent is also first-rate, whether using the tent with two people or using it solo. The tent has a generous amount of headroom (104cm), additional width at the shoulders and a decent length (226cm). Two can easily cook, get changed, and sort out gear without tripping over each other too much. The tent floor is rectangular; it doesn’t taper in at the feet so you can use a double mat ( but check the dimensions of both tent and mat). The vestibules are of a good size, so you have a good space to store your gear; however, if you use the tent solo, you have more than enough space. Internally the tent has six individual pockets to help organise gear.
For a night or two away, I would be very happy to cohabit in this tent; however, if I were going away for a week or more, I personally would use this tent predominantly for solo.
