Montbell says:
Made entirely with our proprietary waterproof-breathable DRYTEC fabric, these rain pants offer exceptional stretch and comfort, following your movements smoothly without restriction. Their supple texture provides a level of comfort not found in conventional rainwear, while the fabric's high breathability efficiently releases internal moisture to keep you comfortable during active use. The zipper at the collar allows quick adjustment of the hood's fit around the face.

Our Verdict
At 214g (UK12), the Montbell 2026 Torrent Flier Jacket gives proper 3-layer waterproof protection at a very low weight. The DRYTEC fabric is the main appeal, combining a 20,000mm+ waterproof rating with high breathability, making it ideal for backpackers and walkers who want more than an emergency shell without carrying a heavy jacket.
The Tri-Axial hood is a standout detail, as it is designed to move with your head and maintain clear visibility in poor weather. I also like the two zipped hand pockets, which make it more practical for hiking than stripped-back ultralight shells. The 15-denier face fabric keeps the weight down, but it will need more care than a heavier hillwalking waterproof, and there are no pit zips for direct venting. Best for lightweight backpacking and long-distance walking in changeable conditions.
