Our Verdict
At 522g (Medium), the Patagonia 2026 R2 TechFace Hoody is substantial, but the high-loft interior provides plenty of warmth while the smooth outer face adds useful wind, abrasion and light-rain resistance. The stretch fabric allows easy movement, and the low-profile cuffs sit neatly beneath gloves.
The pocket layout is practical, with two chest pockets, two raised hand pockets and two internal drop pockets, all easy to use with a rucksack hipbelt or harness.
It is bulky to carry and can feel too warm during sustained climbs, while the fixed hood and hem offer little adjustment. It works best as a put-on-and-leave-on layer for cold winter walks, scrambling, or climbing.
