Our Verdict
The updated 2025 Tempest 44 carries forward everything that’s worked so well in previous models, now with refined shaping and improved back panel support. Weighing 1550g, it's built for fastpacking, weekend backpacking, or multi-day trips with a lightweight kit — ideal for covering big miles and wanting your pack to move with you.
The women’s specific fit is excellent, with narrower shoulder straps, a shorter back length, and a contoured hipbelt that sits comfortably without digging in. The updated AirScape back panel has more structure and improved airflow thanks to a redesigned foam profile and injection-moulded frame sheet. Paired with the BioStretch harness and hipbelt, the pack hugs the body without feeling restrictive, staying stable even when the terrain turns steep or scrambly. The new buckle-based torso adjustment makes fine-tuning the fit easier than ever.
Storage is well thought out — a floating lid, roomy front shove-it pocket, and side stretch pockets for water bottles or spare layers. There’s also an internal hydration sleeve and stow-on-the-go pole attachment. My only gripe is that fully tightened side straps can block bottle access. There’s no built-in rain cover, so I’d pair this with dry bags or bring a lightweight cover.
