Our Verdict
At just 1014g, the updated Tempest 22 is a lightweight, form-fitting pack that excels on dynamic days out. The women’s specific fit is excellent, with narrower shoulder straps, a shorter back length, and a contoured hipbelt that sits comfortably without digging in — even when fully loaded and moving fast over rough ground.
The injection-moulded AirScape back panel keeps airflow high without compromising stability, while the BioStretch harness and hipbelt wrap the body snugly, allowing natural movement across technical terrain. I’m a fan of the Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment — it’s intuitive and genuinely useful when you need to free your hands quickly. The newly updated helmet carry bar is slimmer and now holds climbing helmets securely — not just bike lids — making it much more versatile for mountain days.
There’s ample storage for a day’s kit, stretch pockets on the sides, hipbelt, front panel, internal organisation, and a dedicated hydration sleeve. My only real gripe is the compression straps over the side mesh pockets, which can make grabbing a bottle awkward when cinched down.
A light, stable pack with a women’s specific fit, perfect for fast hiking, scrambling, or bike-based adventures.
