Our Verdict
This mid-weight fleece uses Rab’s Thermic Soft Textured fabric, which feels plush inside while remaining efficient at moving moisture away from the body. It provides steady warmth without overheating and works well under a shell. The brushed inner surface adds comfort for long days in the hills, while the regular fit layers easily over a baselayer without bulk.
The hood sits close to the head with light elastic binding, giving comfortable coverage without interfering with a helmet. The hand pockets are zipped and practical, although they could be a touch deeper for gloved hands. Construction quality is excellent, with clean stitching and a reassuringly robust feel for a fleece of this weight.
The recycled textured outer fabric is a thoughtful update that maintains the same dependable performance while improving sustainability. Breathability remains a strong point, making it a versatile choice for steady climbs, scrambles or all-day layering in variable weather. The Stavel Hoody feels simple, effective and ready for regular mountain use.
