Our Verdict
At 519g (UK 12), the Patagonia Women’s Retro Pile Hoody is a fairly heavy fleece, but the thick double-sided pile feels warm and comfortable. The tall collar and three-panel hood add useful coverage, while the two zipped hand pockets and chest pocket provide practical storage.
The open pile breathes well, but it is bulky to carry, and the long fibres may pill or flatten beneath rucksack straps.
It is a classic casual fleece that works best for everyday wear, campsites, travel and relaxed walks where comfort matters more than low weight.
