Our Verdict
The Outdoor Research Women's Oasis Sun Hat focuses on straightforward sun protection, with a wide rear brim measuring 4.7 inches and a front brim measuring 3.5 inches. Coverage across the face, ears and neck is excellent, and the UPF 50+ fabric gives reassuring protection during extended exposure. At 99g (Medium), it feels light without being flimsy.
The updated 2026 fabric has a nice soft feel and dries quickly after sweat or light rain. The wicking headband manages moisture well, though the solid crown can feel warm during higher exertion. The crown cinch allows a secure fit, and the detachable chin cord keeps the hat stable in gusty conditions.
The brim structure has been improved and holds its shape well, even after being packed into a rucksack.
