A waterproof insulated jacket for cold, wet days when separate layers feel unnecessary.

Patagonia says:

Whether you’re seeking boulders and alpine views or stalking rainbow trout, this low-profile, waterproof jacket will keep you dry and provide rain protection from the fork in the trail to the places less traveled, and back again. This 3-layer shell meets our H2No® Performance Standard for exceptional waterproof/breathable protection, and the fabric, membrane and durable water repellent (DWR) finish are made without intentionally added PFAS. Made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory.

Our Verdict

At 557g (UK 12), the Patagonia Women’s Insulated Boulder Fork Rain Jacket combines a three-layer H2No shell with 40g Thermogreen insulation. I like the simplicity of that setup for stop-start winter use, providing weather protection and warmth. The low-profile hood, adjustable cuffs and drawcord hem help seal out poor weather, while the raised hand pockets remain accessible above a rucksack hipbelt. A chest pocket adds useful storage for smaller essentials.

The fixed insulation makes it less adaptable during hard climbs, where heat can build quickly, but the design suits cold rain, easy winter walks and low-output days when warmth and waterproofing are both needed.
