Our Verdict
At 180g (UK12), the DryTec Rain Pants combine Montbell’s 3-layer waterproof fabric with a 30-denier nylon ripstop face. They strike an effective balance between protection, comfort and packability. The fit is trim yet practical, with articulated knees for mobility and knee-length side zips that make them easy to pull on over boots.
Breathability is excellent, with the fabric keeping moisture in check during steady climbs. The waterproofing holds up during extended rainfall, and the fabric’s soft handle adds comfort when worn for long periods. While not designed for bushwhacking or heavy abrasion, they hold up well for trekking, hillwalking and fastpacking.
