Weather protection is provided by lightweight but durable recycled Pertex Shield® fabric with a PFC-free DWR treatment. With 2.5 layers, it is softer and more supple than a traditional three-layer shell, making it extremely comfortable to wear, as well as lightweight and compact for a streamlined carry.
With an elasticated waistband, a regular fit and full-length side zips, the new pant is easily pulled on over walking boots when the weather turns. Integrated knee articulation provides unrestricted movement for high stepping on steeper or more technical terrain and an internal top popper brings instant ventilation whenever the conditions change. Whether you’re trekking in the mountains or hiking in the peaks, it’s well worth a place in your backpack.
Our Verdict
Rab's Womens Downpour Plus 2.0 Pants are an environmentally friendly, fully featured waterproof overtrouser. The hydrostatic head of 20,000 is a lot higher than many of our lighter alternatives giving keeping you dryer for longer.
The pants have full length waterproof zips that can be unzipped from the waist band or the ankle. This means they can easily be put on over boots saving you time as you rush to get them on when the rain comes down. This flexibility also enables you to vent if needs be. There is a simple waist adjustment and the ankle cuffs can be cinched in. Like many overtrousers the Downpour Plus has no pockets.
