Our Verdict
I’m pleased to see Proflex used in Rab’s Downpore light jacket. It was used in Rab’s Kinetic range, and I was a big fan! Proflex is a waterproof, incredibly breathable, and stretchy material with a supple, flexible nature comparable to a soft shell that functions like a hard shell. This suits the Downpore light jacket's lightweight, stashable design.
I'm a big fan of the hood that cinches around the face and crown with one simple drawcord. This means adjusting the hood is quick and straightforward, and the engineering behind this is impressive. Although I would have preferred the stiffened peak of the hood to be further away from my face, this may be a complaint unique to those who wear glasses.
This is a streamlined, form-fitting garment with articulated sleeves that facilitate a significant degree of movement. This shell is ideal for unexpected weather conditions, especially during spring and autumn.
