Our Verdict
The West Vest leans fully into its retro vibes, but I think it works because the design is simple and functional rather than overly styled. The recycled polar fleece feels soft and warm around the core, while the relaxed fit leaves plenty of room for layering underneath. I particularly like the hand pockets, which make it feel more practical than many casual fleece gilets. It is not a technical layer and offers little protection from wind, but that misses the point. For camp wear, travel and everyday outdoor use, it delivers comfort, warmth and character in equal measure.
