Part John Lennon, part Lawrence of Arabia — these are shades with serious heritage and serious presence.
Julbo says:
Our traditional mountaineering sunglasses are timeless classics symbolic of our history with the mountains. Rock stars, mountaineers, and Julbo fans from all walks of life have praised them to the skies. To celebrate our 125th anniversary and to give our fans the sunglasses they expect, we have reissued the legendary Vermont. This is our traditional mountaineering model with round lenses and leather side shields.
Our Verdict
The Julbo Vermont Spectron 3 sunglasses are about as classic as it gets, pairing round lenses with leather side shields and a metal frame that feels more at home on a 1950s glacier than on a city street, though they’ll turn heads in either setting. I’ve been impressed with the clarity of the Spectron 3 lenses (12% VLT); they handle bright alpine light well, and the wide coverage is genuinely useful when the sun reflects hard off snow or rock.
At 41g, they’re still light enough for all-day wear, and the fit is secure thanks to flexible arms that wrap comfortably behind the ears. The leather nose guard and side shields do a decent job of blocking peripheral light, though the vent holes can let in a bit of glare if the angle’s wrong. They're not photochromic, so they're best suited to high-brightness conditions.
A beautiful throwback with real function — these are for those who love their gear with character and a bit of edge.
