We've been continually developing our range of raincovers and have designed a range of ultralight raincovers perfect for defending against downpours. Featuring a full wrap-around cinch attachment, secure hipbelt and harness attachments to keep your pack totally covered. Each ultralight raincover packs down to roughly the size of a tennis ball and comes with its own pouch for easy storage. Our Verdict
Rain covers are a “does what it says on the tin” product; the Osprey Ultralight cover is made with a durable 40D ripstop Nylon, which is fully taped. The cover conveniently packs into its own attached pocket.
Attaching the cover to your pack is very simple; however, unlike most covers, considerations have been made to ensure the cover securely attaches to your pack; the hip belt pockets have a loop they thread threw, as well as an additional cinch that can be attached threw the shoulder straps or as I prefer under the “load lifters.” The two extra considerations ensure a tight-fitting cover but also a cover that won’t blow off in a strong gust of wind.
I always line my pack with a waterproof pack liner; keeping my sleeping bag and warm clothes dry is my top priority when camping; a pack cover and waterproof liner combo ensures my gear is always 100% dry.
