Ultra Raptor Mid II GTX is the mid-cut version of the Ultra Raptor Mountain Running icon, ideal for fast hiking and excursions with light loads. Waterproof and breathable thanks to the Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort membrane. The soft Comfort Collar protects the ankle from the entry of stones or mud and integrates the easy-fit spoiler for maximum ease of fit. The upper is in abrasion-resistant, breathable mesh fabric, perfect for use in all conditions. The rear stabilizing heel allows perfect control over the traverses. Perfect volume adjustment and foot hold thanks to the dedicated lacing elements: the eye-stay webbings are sewn on the inside of the upper and reinforced on the outside with a high frequency TPU skeleton, allowing the lace pull-force to be distributed equally over all areas of the upper. Ultra Raptor Mid II GTX is also available in a wide-fit comfort version to accommodate different foot-volumes. Our Verdict
La Sportiva's Ultra Raptor II Mid GTX builds on the success of the original Ultra Raptors by upping the collar height and making this a more versatile mid boot for general outdoor use. These boots work really well for anything from relaxed walks in the countryside to fast and light backpacking adventures in the mountains. They mid boot design is made with a really comfortable ankle collar that provides a bit of support along with the soft padding.
The soles provide flexibility and are great for all day comfort while the FriXion compound feel soft and sticky which does provide a decent grip on a wide range of surfaces. They also use a Gore-Tex membrane to provide a decent level of waterproofing while the extended toe bumper and hard stabiliser used around the heel add extra protection and make them more durable. These are definitely one of the most comfortable pairs of mid boots around and have excelled on everything from short walks to long multi-day trips.
