The UL Distance is super-light, breathable, and wear-resistant in a short-height package that’s ideal for warm-weather trail running. Designed to be worn with running shoes, the UL Distance gaiter comes with an adhesive heel tab that secures the fit without the need for an underfoot retention strap.
Our Verdict
At 31g (Medium), the UL Distance Gaiters feel aimed squarely at runners and fast hikers who simply want to keep grit and trail debris out of low-cut trail runners. I like how breathable the fabric feels compared to heavier gaiters, and the short cut avoids the clammy feel that often comes with waterproof models in warm weather. The Heel Hook system keeps the fit tidy without an underfoot strap rubbing against rock or wearing out prematurely, though the adhesive heel tab relies on good shoe compatibility. Protection is minimal on wet mud or boggy ground, but on dry trails and with lightweight footwear, they make a lot of sense.
