Our Verdict
The Traverse strikes an impressive balance for those tackling varied and demanding trails. Weighing just 300 g (UK8), it features a medium stack height of 30 mm in the heel and 25 mm in the forefoot, supported by a 5 mm drop. This design promotes a natural stride while maintaining a steady and supportive platform, making it ideal for technical trails. The dual-density ZipFoam midsole provides moderate cushioning with firm ground feedback, while an integrated forefoot rock plate shields against sharp rocks and uneven surfaces.
The Vibram Megagrip outsole, equipped with 6 mm multidirectional lugs, delivers outstanding traction on wet, muddy, and loose terrain. Its aggressive lug pattern ensures stability during descents and lateral movements.
A recycled mesh upper enhances breathability and durability and is reinforced with overlays for added structure and support. The robust toe bumper guards against trail hazards, while the integrated gaiter attachment system—featuring secure heel anchors and a D-ring at the laces—works seamlessly with Topo’s Performance Gaiter. However, compatibility with other brands' gaiters may be limited.
