A clever update to a well-loved design—ultralight, and now tougher than ever thanks to next-gen fabric tech.
Big Agnes says:
Lighter, stronger, and more waterproof than ever thanks to our proprietary HyperBead™ fabric, the Tiger Wall UL is ideal for minimalists looking for a side entry, ultralight tent.
Defined by its high-volume, single pole architecture with large side entry doors and generous vestibule space, this tent is a favorite for backcountry adventures for good reason. Single pole architecture using DAC Featherlite materials create a simple, yet sturdy structure you can rely on through multi-day trips. The comfort and weight savings of the Tiger Wall UL make tent life easy for your three-season adventures.
Our Verdict
The Tiger Wall UL1 has long been a go-to for solo hikers after a side-entry tent that doesn't compromise on weight or comfort—and the 2025 update builds on that reputation. This year's key change is the introduction of Big Agnes’s HyperBead fabric, which not only sheds weight but also boosts waterproofing, strength, and long-term durability.
At just 849g (excluding pegs and bags), it’s light enough to satisfy even the most weight-conscious hikers, yet still feels like a proper, fully enclosed shelter. The single-pole, hubbed architecture is quick to pitch and offers enough headroom to sit up and change comfortably. At the same time, the structured foot-end corners and near-vertical sidewalls genuinely boost usable space. The tapered floor maximises ground coverage, though if you’re using a wide mat, it’s worth checking the fit ( most will fit, but the wide Big Agnes mats are a squeeze). The vestibule is perfectly sized to cover a pack and boots without feeling cramped.
Ventilation has been improved with low and top vent options, helping reduce condensation, and internal storage is better than expected. The oversized 3D bin pocket keeps gear organised and within reach. The updated EZ Pack stuff sack is a neat idea for fast transitions, but you’ll need to pack the tent carefully to get it back in—I prefer an oversized sack for easy packing.
