Our Verdict
At 53g, the Ortlieb Thru Axle M6 Connector replaces a standard thru-axle and provides M6 threaded ends for attaching racks. With spacers included, the length adjusts between 165 and 180mm, allowing for straightforward matching to a range of frame standards. Once installed, the connection feels solid, transferring the load directly through the axle rather than relying on frame eyelets.
Under carrying loads, the rack remains stable, with no noticeable flex or creaking on rough ground. The aluminium machining inspires confidence, though, as with any axle component, correct torque and alignment are essential to maintain reliability. Clearance can be tight on some bikes, so careful setup is necessary.
