Our Verdict
The Patagonia Terravia Trail Shorts are lightweight hiking shorts for fast walking, travel and warmer three-season use. At 206g (Medium), they feel focused on breathability, stretch, and quick-drying rather than heavy-duty protection.
The recycled polyester-spandex fabric is the main strength. It moves easily on steeper ground and dries quickly after showers, stream splashes or damp grass. The PFAS-free DWR finish adds some light weather resistance.
The 10in inseam gives a bit more coverage than shorter trail shorts without feeling bulky. I also like the secure pocket layout, with zipped front pockets, a zipped rear pocket and a zipped thigh pocket for small essentials.
