Our Verdict
The Montane Tenacity Jacket strikes a strong balance between protection, breathability and mobility, built with just the right level of structure for demanding days out. At 424g (Medium), it’s not the lightest softshell around, but it feels well-made. The GRANITE Stretch fabric is tough without being stiff, sheds wind, and light rain. The fit is active but unrestrictive, and the articulation through the arms allows it to move cleanly under load. I like the high-set hand pockets; they stay accessible with a pack, and the offset seams keep everything comfortable across the shoulders. Details are kept minimal but effective, with a tidy hem adjustment and simple cuffs that seal well without fuss.
