Enhanced comfort: The Sunset Chair (re) is a redesign of the original Sunset Chair. Its seat is even more comfortable due to the addition of a second tension line within the perimeter of the chair to uniquely distribute weight around the frame.
Our Verdict
The Helinox Sunset Chair (re) takes an already popular design and makes it noticeably more comfortable. The updated tension system creates a more supportive seat, spreading weight evenly and reducing pressure points. The higher seating position and tall backrest provide excellent support for the shoulders and neck, while also making it easier to get in and out than lower camp chairs.
At 1553g, this is not a chair aimed at backpackers counting every gram, but the packed size remains surprisingly compact for the comfort on offer. Build quality is exactly what I expect from Helinox, with the DAC aluminium frame, sturdy hubs and well-finished fabrics giving a premium feel throughout. The narrow feet can still sink into very soft ground, but stability is improved over previous versions.
