Our Verdict
At 424g in black (DCH150) or 360g in white (DCH50), the Hyperlite Mountain Gear Summit 30 is a frameless rucksack with just enough structure for summit days and technical approaches. The roll-top closure and vertical compression straps make it simple to manage volume, while daisy chains and shock cord provide versatile external carry for axes, helmets or extra layers. However, it omits extras such as water bottle pockets or a hydration port, keeping the design as minimal as possible, but this is something I would expect a pack like this to have.
The shoulder straps and removable hip belt keep loads stable up to around 9 kg; however, comfort depends on careful packing, as there is no frame or padded back panel. In wet conditions, the taped seams and Dyneema Composite Hybrid fabric keep contents reliably dry. Durability is strong for the weight, with reinforced wear points holding up well against rock and repeated travel use. For short, focused objectives where efficiency matters, it is a capable and dependable option.
