Our Verdict
Mountain Equipment's Squall Hooded Jacket is ideal for changeable conditions where a full waterproof hard shell is too much but you still want some protection from the elements. The use of Exolite 125 soft shell fabric means that this is lightweight, soft and stretchy so it performs well for a range of activities. Versatility is key so you could wear this as an outer layer in most conditions and as a layering piece in prolonged periods of rain or very cold weather.
The added stretch in the fabric is good and makes this a very comfortable jacket to wear. The pockets are configured to what would suit the majority of people. The main zip is slanted to stay away from your chin whilst also adding a nice design touch that makes this jacket stand out.
