The Black Diamond Spot 400 R is the rechargable version of the Spot 400 that has an itergated 1500 mAh Li-ion battery with micro-USB charge port, that is easy and simple to use and packs a max 400 lumen punch, for use on any activiy in the worst conditions.

Our Verdict
The Spot 400 R is a lightweight and compact rechargeable headtorch that packs a punch for its size and weight with a 400 lumen max output.
With a multitude of features such as PowerTap to adjust the light depending on what is required so as not to waist battery, red night vision bulb of a softer light, digital lock mode to prevent battery waist from accidently leaving it on, a high level of water resistance so no need to worry about the rain and a % battery meter so you don't run out of power by surprise.
The R version has an integrated 1500 mAh Li-ion battery with micro-USB charge port which means while heavier than the standard 400 version, it requires no need to carry an extra charger so no need to have extra weight and extra items in your pack.
Maybe not having the option to use AAA's as well may be seen as a downside the battery life of the Li-on batttery is pretty good, so you are hopefully unlikely to get caught out.
