Weighing just one pound [470g], it supports up to 220lbs [100kg] and packs to the size of a small baguette to easily fit in a backpack or tote bag. Strong and light, the heart of its innovative design is a frame made from a proprietary DAC aluminum alloy that delivers an outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. The seat is made from a 600D weave rip-stop with aramid yarn.
Set-up is easy. An internal bungee cord snaps the frame into place with the 9.5 x 11 inch [24cm x 36cm] seat already attached. Disassembled, the frame and seat fold up to fit in the included 16.5 x 3.5 x 3.5 inch [42 x 9 x 9cm] carrying sack for easy storage and transport. With the ultralight carry weight, comfortable seating platform, easy packability, and backed by a 5 year manufacturer’s warranty, the Helinox Speed Stool is a great choice for ultralight backpackers, day hikers, cyclists, and all other fast and light aficionados.
Our Verdict
Helinox's Speed Stool lives up to its name. It is very quick and easy to set up and as it weighs in at around 414g it is light enough to be used for a range of outdoor trips. The low weight and small pack size mean that this stool gets plenty of use for day walks, over night trips and at base camp. As usual with Helinox the quality of the DAC aluminium frame and the fabric cover are excellent. The balance low weight and durability really well.
The stool collapses down to a very handy size and the carry case it comes with helps keep it together and makes it easy to slide into a pocket on your rucksack or inside it. An ideal seating solution for anyone doesn't want to sit on the floor during breaks or at camp.
