Our Verdict
At 197g (Medium), the Patagonia Slope Runner Vest strikes an appealing balance between low weight and practical carrying capacity. What stands out most is how securely it sits against the body. The close-fitting design minimises bounce, even when carrying full flasks, and feels more like part of your clothing than an additional pack.
The monomesh back panel provides excellent airflow, making it particularly well suited to warm-weather running, fastpacking and mountain days. Storage is thoughtfully arranged, with deep front pockets and a rear stash pocket that keeps layers and nutrition within easy reach. The included 500ml flasks are a welcome addition, and the dual pole-carry options add versatility.
The flask pockets can feel a little deep when reaching for a nearly empty bottle, but overall, the organisation works well. For runners and fastpackers who value comfort, stability and ventilation, this is a highly refined vest.

- The front of the Slope Runner Vest is made of soft, flexible 100% recycled polyester ripstop with mechanical stretch and a durable water repellent (DWR) finish made without intentionally added PFAS; the back is made of an airy, high-flex monofilament mesh for breathability, cooling airflow and next-to-skin comfort
- Low-profile, water bottle‒friendly stretch pockets on the vest’s front fit a variety of flasks and bottles for instant access
- Two sets of elastic loops hold trekking poles; one sits on the front of the pack for quick-stash access, the other is across the lower back for out-of-the-way storage
- Hydrophobic monomesh back panel provides maximum airflow and all-day comfort
- Two 500ml HydraPak® flasks are included
