Our Verdict
At 139g, it is incredibly light yet made from recycled Robic nylon that feels stronger than its weight suggests. The airmesh straps sit comfortably on the shoulders, providing enough breathability to prevent clamminess during warm weather. The cinch closure is quick to use, and the reinforced pull points inspire confidence when tightening or loosening under load. I found the interior mesh pocket particularly useful, doubling as both somewhere to stash valuable when “in bag mode” and a stuff sack, when you stoe it away.
For short outings and casual carry, the RikSak works very well. Loads stay stable as long as they are kept moderate; it's not built for anything heavy. Durability is suitable for such a minimal design, with seams and fabric holding up well after repeated packing and unpacking.
I would have appreciated a mesh water bottle pocket, which would not have compromised the minimalist intent. Still, if you are after packability and simplicity, the RikSak is a good choice.
