Warm, waterproof and built for the British winter
Rab says:
Offering versatile protection for cold, wet conditions, these waterproof, lightly insulated mitts keep your hands warm and dry when a storm strikes. With textured, reinforced palms for durability and grip, they're ideal for hiking and mountain use.
Our Verdict
Rab’s Storm Mitts provide dependable protection for cold, wet mountain days. At 114g (Medium), they balance insulation and durability with typical Rab precision. The Porelle waterproof membrane keeps out sustained rain and sleet, while the Stratus synthetic fill offers consistent warmth even when conditions turn damp.
The internal glove-style dividers separate the fingers and add a soft fleece lining to each, while the overall mitt design boosts warmth by allowing heat to circulate between them, giving the benefits of both a glove and a mitt.. The result is an effective mix of control and insulation.
Moisture control is sound for steady activity, although during prolonged high-output climbs or scrambles, they can feel warm. The wrist strap and single-pull cuff cinch make them easy to secure. These are practical, reliable mitts for typical UK winter use: waterproof, warm and solidly built, with a design that favours real-world mountain function over unnecessary features.
