The Montane Punk Balaclava is a fully functional, classic piece of mountain headwear which provides total face cover and protection. Constructed from zoned Thermo Stretch fleece fabric and windproof PERTEX® QUANTUM, it offers enhanced protection in critical areas. Enhanced nose ventilation for easier breathing and a raised peak for better visibility offer advanced performance. The Punk Balaclava boasts a snug, ergonomic fit allowing it to layer perfectly under a mountain shell hood.
Our Verdict
Montane has taken the basic fleece balaclava and added several useful features to create a well-designed and functional piece of winter headgear.
The balaclava has a mesh panel around the mouth area, allowing unrestricted breathing. It also has a reinforced peak that helps it fit snugly under a hood or helmet. The peak does not affect the balaclava’s packability.
The balaclava is made from Thermo Stretch Brushed back softshell, which has an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio and is highly breathable.
