Our Verdict
The Primus PrimeTech Stove Set II 1.3L stands apart from many integrated stove systems because it is designed for people who actually want to cook. The wide pot, regulated burner and effective windscreen combination provide noticeably better flame control than most water-boiling-focused systems, making tasks such as simmering sauces, cooking pasta or preparing one-pot meals far more realistic.
I particularly like the remote canister design. The lower centre of gravity creates a more stable cooking platform, especially on uneven ground, while the heat exchanger and windscreen help maximise fuel efficiency in exposed conditions.
I do appreciate the inclusion of a Piezo igniter. Still, I would much prefer to see it integrated into the burner itself rather than supplied as a separate accessory that can easily be forgotten or misplaced.
I would also favour a dedicated pot handle over the removable pot gripper. Given that this system is designed for people preparing proper meals in camp, a permanently attached handle would be more convenient for regular use.
At 797g, it is undeniably heavier than minimalist stove setups, but that weight brings genuine cooking capability. For backpacking pairs, paddlers and anyone who sees camp meals as more than adding water to a pouch, it is a thoughtfully designed stove system.
