We’ve updated our lightweight material to a more eco-conscious option: PolyEarthylene®. This USA-made biobased polyolefin can be recycled in existing curbside systems or completely biodegrades in an active landfill environment. Major grocery stores offer specialty bins that guarantee proper plastics recycling when your local curbside system may vary.
As with most ultralight materials, PolyEarthylene® performs best with reasonable care, offering a durable and lightweight waterproofness from campsite to campsite.
Our Verdict
The Gossamer Gear Polycryo Footprint weighs 169g and measures 183 x 244cm, giving you a generous waterproof barrier between your shelter and the ground.
I like how straightforward it is. It keeps mud and moisture away from the tent floor and adds another layer between lightweight fabrics and rough ground.
The new PolyEarthylene material is also made from a biobased polyolefin that can be recycled or biodegrade in active landfill conditions.
