Our Verdict
The Osprey PhotoLid is a clever solution for carrying camera gear on multi-day hikes without adding an extra pack. It neatly attaches to any Ospray pack with a removable lid. Once connected, access is quick and intuitive.
The internal layout is fully customisable with firm EVA foam dividers that can be moved and secured with hook and loop attachments.. Build quality feels dialled in—dense padding, weather-resistant fabrics, and a structured lid that protects gear without being overly bulky. Off the pack, it converts into a lumbar or cross-body bag for day use, adding versatility.

- Attach to backpack in place of removable top lid. Spare buckles included to securely attach to most packs.
- Converts to lumbar pack. Padded hipwings store behind padded lumbar pad (both covered with spacer mesh) when not in use. Can also be carried cross-body.
