Our Verdict
The Ledlenser P7R delivers serious output, but what stands out most is how straightforward it is to use. The revised Mode Select Ring and move to USB-C charging are big improvements for mes, making the torch easier to operate and far simpler to charge than previous versions. I also like the beam adjustment system, which moves smoothly between a broad flood and a more focused spot beam depending on the task.
At 197g, it is heavier than most hiking headtorches, but the solid aluminium body and IP68 protection give it a reassuringly durable feel. The 2000-lumen boost mode is best viewed as a short burst rather than sustained output, though the standard 1200-lumen mode still provides substantial brightness.
For camping, vehicle kits and general outdoor use, it feels like a thoughtfully updated all-round torch.
