Our Verdict
At 1549g, the Osprey Stratos 44 is a supportive hiking pack for big day walks, overnighters, and multiday trips. The AirSpeed back system is the main strength, holding the pack away from your back to improve airflow on warm climbs and long days. The trade-off is that it moves the load slightly farther from your body, which can shift your centre of gravity, meaning you may need to pack bulkier items more carefully.
I like the adjustability here. The 43–56cm torso range, padded hipbelt and load lifters make it easier to dial in.
Organisation is strong, with lid pockets, side access, bottom access, hipbelt pockets and an included raincover. It is not an ultralight option, but it works well for walkers who value ventilation, comfort, support and on-hand storage over shaving weight.
