Our Verdict
At 69g (Medium), the Outdoor Research Sun Bucket Hat is light enough to forget about once on, yet the 3.3-inch rear brim and 2.5-inch front brim provide consistent coverage across the face and upper neck. The brim holds its shape well, rebounding after being stuffed in a side pocket.
The nylon fabric feels thin and dries quickly after sweat or light rain. Breathability is good for a solid fabric hat. During steady movement, it remains comfortable, and the crown cinch helps dial in the fit. The detachable chin cord adds reassurance in gusty conditions.
