Wind protection without the bulk of a warmer mitt
Hestra says:
A light, supple pull-on mitten that provides protection from wind and drizzle in spring, summer and autumn. A short, unlined design in flexible stretch fabric that allows moisture to escape and dries quickly if it gets wet. Easy to roll up in a pocket when not in use and handy to pull on if the weather turns when cycling, hiking, trail running, etc. Silicone print makes for good grip on handlebars and when changing gear, etc.
Our Verdict
The Hestra Nimbus Mitts make the most sense on cool, breezy days when insulated gloves would be too much. At just 47g in size 9, they are exceptionally light, but the three-layer stretch fabric still offers useful wind protection while staying breathable and quick-drying.
The unlined construction keeps bulk low, while the mitten shape gives your fingers a little more shared warmth than the 5 Finger version. Silicone print across the palm adds grip without making them feel cumbersome. They aren't waterproof, and they still have very little insulation, so I wouldn't treat them as a cold-weather mitt.
I particularly like them as a lightweight layer for hiking, trail running or cycling, where cutting wind chill matters more than outright warmth.
