The Backcountry is a pump filtration system that is great for large groups and when you need to filter a lot of water. The Backcountry Pump system is ideal for hikers and backpackers, but is also great for camping in a group when the pump is your only form of water filtration.
Our Verdict
HydroBlu's MUV Backcountry Pump Water Filter combines ultrafiltration technology and activated carbon to give serious levels of protection in a practical pump system.The pump is versatile enough to be used for solo trips or groups with a really good flow rate and with the added hoses and adapter it is easy to use in whatever way suits you. The kit comes with some replacement pre-filter part to further prolong the life of it.
The combination of the two part filter design makes it highly effective with the hollow fibre part uses holes measuring just 0.02 microns allowing it to remove an extensive range of viruses along with 99.999% of bacteria. The activated carbon part further filters the water by taking out chemicals and heavy metals. There is no shelf life for the filter, simply the 680 litres it should be able to clean before it essentially locks out.
